Romeo Stevens can you elaborate? You hand these to smokers? In what kinds of situations? Is it a gift like “I care about your health” or “please don’t smoke around me” or both or…what?
they are the cheapest QALYs I can actually purchase. Ecigs have a very high success rate, and quitting smoking adds a significant number of years to people’s lives. I mention them to smokers who are unaware of them or only vaguely aware and if they show interest I give them one.
Romeo Stevens you’ve gotta teach me to give these things to smokers without offending them! 🙂 (I have serious lung problems and especially react to tobacco smoke, which tends to make smokers really mad, so I try not to let them know….so my real reason would be to make the world safer for myself and others with similar lung conditions, and helping people live longer would be more of a secondary benefit….but it is at least a socially acceptable reason to give to encourage people to switch…)
be cheerful and excited about it (I know this is harder to do than it is to write), the way I talk about it generally makes smokers think I must be an ex-smoker who quit with them. I also tell them about friends and acquaintances who have quit with them.
