I attended CES this week and this is probably the product I’m most personally excited about.
Alarm clocks are known to be damaging to cognitive performance, and are basically only something you should use out of desperation if you are socially obligated to arrive at work or school at a firm time each morning. I choose not to use alarm clocks personally, but this is a rare option that won’t work for many people. To the extent that intelligent wake lights like these can help you reduce the hour or so of cognitively debilitating “sleep inertia” that you experience each morning, they are probably one of the more immediate ways you can quickly and easily invest in your own happiness and cognitive performance.
If you’re not willing to wait for this one to come out, I can also recommend the Philips Hf3470 Wake-Up Light or the more extravagantly designed (and priced) Philips Hf3550.

Alexei AndreevHmm, I doubt a light like that can wake me up. Plus, I’m almost always wearing a sleeping mask.
