I knew FM slightly, I got to meet him once at a conference, and his writings influenced the way I think about things. I acknowledge that much about him. But he got so many things really, badly wrong based on his uncritical acceptance of the Enlightenment’s social philosophy, especially its blank-state model of human nature and its 20th Century instantiation in “progressive” ideology. FM’s head probably would have exploded if could have seen in 2014 that many futurist-minded geeks think that traditional social beliefs like monarchy and patriarchy deserve a second look. We might have taken our kings to the guillotine or to a firing squad in the cellar a little too hastily.
FM also promoted “fluid” sexual relationships, so I wonder what he would have made of the Game/PUA subculture which has emerged in recent years. Does this demonstrate what he had in mind?

RedneckCryonicistYeah, well, we know how accurately FM predicted the conditions of life in that mysterious, far-future year 2010: http://www.scribd.com/doc/10948503/Up-Wing-Priorities
