Asteroids are both a threat and an economic oppertunity.
I hope people at the top will realise that a large fraction, about 400 of the astreoids which are most likely to hit us, is also the ones which are the easiest to land on and be harvested for it’s resources. (reference by memory from the 10 first pages of the book, Mining the Sky)
Fortunately, unlike the millions of galaxies drifting away from us, there is no increasing trans-generational oppertunity cost from not getting there early, they will remain in distance 🙂
