I can currently rent out my 1 bedroom apartment in Berkeley for over 2x my own rent. I recently made $981 just by staying with my girlfriend for a few days. Win-win.
One thing I really like about this is that now I’m actually financially incentivized to go on vacations… or even fun, in-town mini-vacations.
Also, it just helps out other travelers. The people I’ve rented to so far have been amazingly grateful and have taken fantastic care of my apartment. One even left me a bottle of Baileys to thank me!
The other reason I recommend this is because many of my friends are bootstrapping startups or have other big goals that require more funds than they currently have. Rent doesn’t have to be your largest “fixed” cost every month anymore.
