Retinol Improves Skin

Not everyone cares how they look. But if you’re going to use a skin cream to reduce wrinkles or blemishes, at least review the medical literature and then get one with retinol (and also sunscreen to prevent future damage).

There’s lots of evidence that retinol can improve skin appearance along many dimensions… and not much evidence for other compounds.

As far as I can tell, this seems to leave out the main class of compounds other than retinol that would be expected (i.e. there is existing strong evidence) to improve skin appearance: carotenoids, which can’t be assimilated simply to the class of “anti-oxidants.” e.g. http://rsbl.royalsocietypublishing.org/content/9/6/20130633.abstract
