Africa has had surprisingly good economic growth, improved health, and improved governance in the 21st century. It’s a bit under-reported though so I mention this in case you also didn’t know that most things are going right there.

    I don’t think this is surprising unless you believe African countries are inferior to countries in similar economic situations.

    Unfortunately people in Ireland don’t seem to recognise this at all as 53% of them think Africa is only as well off (or worse off) than it was 20 years ago. Only 8% think they are much better off than they used to be. http://www.dochas.ie/Shared/Files/2/131002-Amarach_survey-Key_Finding.pdf
